Marleen Jonkman
A storyteller at heart, Marleen writes and directs films, commercials, and music videos that captivate audiences with their authenticity and emotion. She graduated from the Dutch Film Academy as a rising star with her prize-winning short ‘Daughter’ and was quickly signed by CZAR.
With a mission to celebrate life in all its complexity, Marleen’s work reveals the universal truths of everyday moments through vibrant and joy-filled cinematic storytelling. She has mastered the art of the commercial: filling 30 seconds with what feels like a full film’s worth of sentimentality and emotion.
Her feature debut ‘La Holandesa’ premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and earned a nomination for Best Film at the Dutch Film Festival. Her storytelling frequently spotlights strong, relatable female protagonists navigating contemporary life, bringing modern narratives to the forefront with warmth and honesty.
